Pilgrim Technology has designed an aerial rocket laser sighting system which includes a rocket pod bore sighting kit. This system provides a low cost solution for improved accuracy with current Folding Fin Aerial Rockets (FFAR) as well as improving the overall rocket pod bore sighting process. The system is currently being developed for USMC H-1 aircraft with future applications for all DOD close air support aircraft. |
System Features and Benefits
- Utilizes IZLID 1000 laser currently being used in AH1W 20mm targeting with a solid track record of improved accuracy when engaging targets in an environment requiring the use of night vision goggles.
- System interfaces with the current UH1N hoist power system providing a true plug and play ability with no airframe modification necessary.
- Rocket pod bore sighting system improves the ease of pod alignment as well as decreasing time needed to complete the process for maintenance personnel involved in ordnance handling.
- Improved accuracy and earlier target acquisition allows for rocket delivery at greater standoff range, possibly reducing effectiveness of enemy fire.
- Target laser improves situational awareness for air crew as well as ground controllers significantly reducing the possibilities of collateral damage and friendly fire incidents.
- With a limited number of rockets on board, this system greatly improves the aviators ability to ensure each rocket hits its intended target.
